Chris Henry Coaching Course – Level 1
A new standard in snooker coaching

A training built on how players actually perceive, process and execute the game — and not on how technique is supposed to look.

Developed by Chris Henry and Luk Simoens, this course introduces a structured, neuroscience-based approach to performance — moving beyond traditional coaching models.

Snooker coaching is not a collection of tips or corrections, but a learning process in which skills are systematically developed and stabilised.

To guide players towards consistent and reproducible performance, a coach must understand how the brain learns, automates and performs under pressure.

The Chris Henry Snooker Coaching Course – Level 1 is built on a neuroscience-based view of coaching and deliberately moves away from traditional snooker education.

The focus lies on developing effective habits in striking and aiming, supported by clear didactics, observation and direct application at the table.

The course is intentionally kept small and selective, allowing for depth, interaction and direct translation into each coach’s own practice.

Courses are held regularly in Bruges and additionally on request.

Who this course is for

This course is intended for coaches, practitioners and federations who approach snooker as a process of learning and development, not as a collection of technical instructions.

The Chris Henry Snooker Coaching Course – Level 1 is suited for those who:

  • want to guide players in building stable and reproducible skills

  • are willing to look beyond technique alone

  • are interested in how learning, perception and habit formation shape performance

  • want to structure and deepen their coaching approach, both technically and didactically

This course requires an active mindset, reflection and a willingness to question existing assumptions.

What sets this course apart

This course deliberately moves away from traditional snooker coaching, both in content and approach.

  • coaching based on neuroscience, not on opinion or tradition

  • focus on developing automatisms rather than temporary technical corrections

  • insight into how players learn and perceive

  • no universal technical models, but coaching tailored to the individual

This is not a mass product. The course is intentionally limited in size, ensuring active involvement in analysis, practice and discussion.

Content

During Level 1, the focus is on:

  • striking and aiming by habit

  • visuals, alignment and perception

  • recognising and analysing ineffective patterns

  • delivering targeted, non-disruptive feedback

  • snooker physics

  • structuring coaching sessions and learning processes

A key element of the course is the use of The Balls:
a unique visual and diagnostic tool that makes striking, aiming and deviations immediately objectively visible. This tool supports both coach and player in:

  • observing without interpretation

  • delivering clear, concrete feedback

  • developing effective habits without overcoaching

Approach and delivery

This course is intentionally designed as a small-scale, high-quality learning environment.

  • limited group size

  • direct guidance from both instructors

  • intensive interaction and practical application

  • focus on depth and quality rather than volume

This is not a course you simply attend, but a programme for coaches who are willing to fundamentally refine how they observe, analyse and guide players.
