Chris Henry Snooker Coaching Course – Level 1
Neuroscience-based coaching course
By Chris Henry and Luk Simoens

Snooker coaching is not a collection of tips or corrections, but a learning process in which skills are systematically developed and stabilised. Coaches who aim to guide players towards consistent and reproducible performance must understand how the brain learns, automatises and performs under pressure.

The Chris Henry Snooker Coaching Course – Level 1 is built on a neuroscience-based approach to coaching and deliberately differs from traditional snooker courses. The focus lies on developing effective habits in striking and aiming, supported by clear didactics, observation and direct application at the table.

This education programme is intentionally small-scale and selective, allowing space for depth, interaction and a direct translation to each participant’s own coaching practice.

Who is this coaching course for

This programme is intended for coaches and instructors who approach snooker as a learning and development process, rather than a sequence of technical instructions.

The Chris Henry Snooker Coaching Course – Level 1 is suitable for those who:

  • want to guide players towards stable and repeatable skill execution

  • are willing to look beyond technique alone

  • are interested in how learning, perception and habit formation shape performance

  • want to structure and deepen their coaching approach, both practically and didactically

An active mindset, reflection and a willingness to question existing assumptions are essential throughout the programme.

What makes this course different

This coach education fundamentally differs from traditional courses through its content, methodology and exclusivity.

  • coaching based on neuroscience, not opinion or tradition

  • emphasis on habit formation rather than temporary technical fixes

  • insight into how players learn and perceive, not only what is visible

  • no universal technique models, but individual-centred coaching

The programme is not a mass product. Participation is limited to a small group, ensuring that every coach is actively involved in analysis, practice and discussion.

Content & approach (incl The Balls)

During Level 1, the programme focuses on:

  • striking and aiming as automated behaviour

  • visuals, alignment and perception

  • identifying and analysing ineffective habits

  • delivering precise, non-disruptive feedback

  • snooker physics

  • structuring coaching sessions and learning pathways

A key element of the education is working with The Balls:
a unique visual and diagnostic tool that makes striking, aiming and deviations objectively visible.

This tool supports both coach and player by enabling:

  • observation without interpretation

  • clear and concrete feedback

  • the development of correct habits without over-coaching

The combination of theory, demonstration, practice and diagnostics makes this programme highly practical and immediately applicable.

Exclusive character
A coaching course unlike any other

This coaching course is deliberately designed as a high-quality and exclusive learning trajectory.

  • limited group size

  • direct guidance by both educators

  • intensive interaction and hands-on practice

  • focus on depth and quality, not volume

This is not a course to “quickly attend”, but an education for coaches who are willing to refine the way they observe, analyse and guide players at a fundamental level.
